We started Travel Agent in the place we know and love best: Sonoma County. Of course promoting our favorite hometown places became extremely challenging when COVID-19 hit. We originally launched March 16, 2020, we couldn't have picked a more ironic date to promote travel and supporting local businesses. The pandemic completely flatlined us, like it did so many others. You could call it bad timing, but we gained a greater appreciation for these places during these many months of lockdown, social distancing and curbside pick-up.

A great local taproom or beloved restaurant is greater than its menu. It’s an integral part of its community. They are the kinds of places that are sought after by tourists and coveted by locals. They are establishments that give local kids their first jobs. They showcase up and coming musicians and hang local art on their walls. They are not only part of the community, they are the backbone of towns and cities across the country. Should they fall to big box stores or the dreaded Jeff Bezos smile (or fire or flood), the community would be the lesser for it. We’d all lose.
"Travel Agent is for them because we want them to stick around."
Travel Agent is for them because we want them to stick around. And it’s for all of us who seek out experiences, flavors, and people you’re not likely to find at the mall or at tour bus stops. Open for business or not, you can still support the places you love. We look forward to when we can hang out at all our favorite places once again—maybe even one day without a mask. See you there.
